Stanford Finishes Fourth In Elephant Bar Tournament

Santa Barbara, Calif. - Stanford went to the wire in their final match of the Elephant Bar Tournament, dropping the bronze medal match in five games (30-25, 29-31, 31-33, 30-23, 17-19) to Long Beach State. Emotions ran high resulting in a game five ejection of senior middle blocker Craig Buell, as Stanford ended the weekend of play 1-2, good for fourth place.

Chris Ahlfeldt led the team with 22 kills followed by Ben Reddy with 18 kills and three service aces. Kevin Hansen served up 63 assists while David Vogel registered 15 digs. As a team Stanford posted 11.5 blocks led by Craig Buell with four (two solo).

Stanford opens MPSF Conference play on Friday, January 14th, hosting a USC team who finished seventh in the Elephant Bar Tournament.
