San Diego, Calif. - Stanford improved to 3-4 (2-2 in MPSF) after a 3-0 (30-26, 30-21, 30-24) shutout victory against the Tritons of UC San Diego. "We had a great team effort overall. The offense was distributed evenly among the team," explained head coach Don Shaw. Freshman Matt Ceran led the Cardinal with 11 kills, followed by Chris Ahlfeldt, William Clayton, and David Vogel each chipping in nine. Senior setter Kevin Hansen orchestrated the offense, dishing out 41 assists and leading the Cardinal to a .420 hitting percentage. Stanford put on a blocking exhibition, stuffing UCSD at the net 20 times, a season high.

The Cardinal return home to Burnham Pavilion for a rematch against Cal State Northridge on Thursday, January 27th. The Cardinal will take the much needed rest to get healthy and look to come into next week's action at full strength.
