Cardinal Split Two In First Day Of E-Bar Tournament

Santa Barbara, Calif. - The Cardinal posted a 1-1 record during the first day of the UCSB/Elephant Bar Tournament, advancing to the bronze medal match. Stanford will face Long Beach St. at 5:00 PM on Saturday to determine third place for the tournament.

In the first match the Cardinal swept Pacific, who kept the Cardinal from post-season play in 2004, 3-0 (30-25, 33-31, 30-28). Ben Reddy supplied the majority of the offense tallying 18 kills, with Kevin Hansen providing 44 assists. The Cardinal posted 11 blocks led by Chris Ahlfeldt with four (two solo). William Clayton led the team in digs with eight.

In match two the Cardinal came up short to another MPSF rival, Cal-State Northridge 1-3 (26-30, 30-22, 26-30, 26,30). Reddy scored 17 kills along with four service aces. David Vogel and Matt Ceran added 11 kills a piece. Hansen supplied 50 assists to go along with 12 digs. Craig Buell added four blocks (one solo).
