Stanford, Calif. - Seniors Craig Buell, Kevin Hansen, and David Vogel showed their leadership in a 3-0 sweep of No. 9 ranked Pacific Tigers. The win ups the Cardinal to 4-8 (3-6 MPSF), and ends a four game losing streak. Hansen fed Buell the ball 18 times, with Buell putting away 13 kills for a hitting percentage of .611 in addition to four blocks (two solo). Vogel was second with nine kills to go along with five digs.

Pacific jumped out to an early three point lead and held it through most of game one. Stanford was unable to close the gap until a three-point rally evened the score at 26, prompting a timeout by the Tiger bench. Ben Reddy came out of the break serving up two of his game-high three aces, followed by a solo block and an unassisted kill from Buell to give Stanford a 1-0 lead.

The Cardinal held the early three point lead in game two, and stretched the margin to five for a score of 23-18. Stanford opened up the gap 29-21 behind the serve of William Clayton, and then put away game two off of a Pacific service error.

Stanford closed out the match in game three 30-27 defending against a late barrage of points by Pacific. The Tigers closed a four-point deficit to tie the game at 23 before Buell tamed the Tiger attack with his second solo block and a kill to end the Cardinal losing streak.
