Colorado Springs, Colo. - Stanford, ranked No. 8 in the country, posted a strong 214.275-192.05 victory over 19th-ranked Air Force this afternoon. The Cardinal swept the top-three spots on five events, with the Falcons' Ryan Stromstad posting the best finish for Air Force, as he was part of a three-way tie for second place on floor. All six Cardinal competitors finished ahead of Air Force on pommel horse, still rings and vault as Stanford improved to 4-1 on the season.
Freshman David Sender won three events, taking first place on floor with a 9.3, on vault with a 9.55 and on parallel bars with a 9.05. The Cardinal posted a 37.0 on rings and a 36.9 on vault, the squads best marks of the year. On pommel horse, Chris Harper took first place with a 9.5, he also finished in second place on p-bars with an 8.975.
On rings, Peter Derman took first place with a meet-high 9.6, and on high bar, Dylan Carney finished with a 9.1 to earn first place. Carney also tied for second place on floor with a 9.05 and picked up a third-place finish on vault with a 9.1. Also posting top finishes were Jason Shen (second on vault and high bar) and Sho Nakamori (second on pommel horse and third on high bar.
Stanford will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., next weekend for a dual with Michigan. The Wolverines, ranked No. 4 in last week's poll, will host the Cardinal at 1 p.m.
