Irvine, Calif. - The Cardinal left Irvine with a big win after defeating the Anteaters in straight sets 30-21, 30-23, 31-29. The team hit .422 for the game and was led by senior Craig Buell and junior Ben Reddy who each had 14 kills. Chris Ahlfeldt hit for a .769 average, scoring ten kills and not committing an error in his 13 attempts. Setter Kevin Hansen recorded 39 assists, giving him 588 already this season.

The Anteaters were led by Steffin Rangel with nine kills, while Steve Smith and Jayson Jablonsky had eight and seven kills respectively.

Stanford's defense limited Irvine to only a .255 hitting percentage. William Clayton paced the team with eight digs, while Craig Buell had a game-high five blocks in the game.

The Cardinal is now 5-8 and holds a 4-6 record in the Mountaing Pacific Sports Federation. They now return home for a pair of games against UC San Diego and Long Beach State on Thursday and Saturday respectively. Both games start at 7:00. These are the only home games until April.
