Feb. 28, 2005

San Luis Obispo, Calif. - Senior Matt Gentry came up just short in the Pac-10 title match, taking second place after falling to Brian Stith of Arizona State in a closely fought 3-1 decision at 157 pounds. Stith scored two points on a takedown with six seconds left to win the match, which helped propel Arizona State to a first place team finish. Gentry finished in second place, which automatically qualifies him for the NCAA tournament. Imad Kharbush will also wrestle at the NCAAs after taking third place in the 174 pound bracket. He defeated number one seed Ron Silva in the consolation final. Nathan Peterson (125) and Ryan Hagen placed for the Cardinal as well.
