Honolulu, Hawaii - Stanford loss its second consecutive close match in a 2-3 defeat against the Hawaii Warriors on Thursday evening and is now 3-8 (2-6 MPSF) after Friday's rematch ended with the Warriors shutting out the Cardinal 0-3.
In front of over 3,000 fans, Stanford fell behind 0-2 in the first match, but surged back to force a decisive game five. The Cardinal was close, but dropped the deciding game 13-15 for another heartbreaking loss.
Statistical leaders for Stanford were Craig Buell with seven block assists and nine kills, Kevin Hansen adding 55 assists to go along with four block assists, and Matt Ceran with 11 digs.
In match two, Stanford could not overcome the 0-2 deficit, yielding a sweep at the hands of the Warriors who sit alone atop the MPSF standings.
