Tuesday's Stanford-San Jose State Game Rained Out

March 22, 2005

Stanford, Calif. - The non-conference game scheduled for Tuesday between No. 12 Stanford (12-7) and San Jose State (13-8-1) at San Jose Municipal Stadium has been rained out. No makeup date has been announced.

Stanford has played just once since March 6. The Cardinal had an annual break for finals from March 7-18 and has had two games rained out since.

Stanford's next game is now scheduled versus Pacific (10-14) at Sunken Diamond this Thursday, March 24 (1:00 pm, PT). Thursday's contest is a makeup game for an originally scheduled meeting between the schools that was postponed due to rain on Saturday, March 19.

Stanford and Pacific did play as scheduled in Stockton last Sunday with the Cardinal winning by a score of 9-6.

Tuesday's postponement was the fifth of a soggy 2005 campaign for the Cardinal. Stanford's 2005 scheduled season-opener versus Fresno State on January 28, as well as series-openers against Kansas on February 11 and California on February 25 were also postponed due to weather conditions. All three games were later made up as part of doubleheaders.

Stanford is still scheduled to play Sacramento State (7-15-1) in a two-game home-and-home series this Friday-Saturday, March 25-26. The abbreviated set starts at Sunken Diamond on Friday (6:00 pm, PT), before moving to Sacramento on Saturday (2:00 pm, PT).
