Boone, NC - Liz Robinson and Julia Drewes each scored a goal in the first half of the game to lead Stanford (1-5, 1-0) to a 2-0 victory over Appalachian State (1-4, 0-1) in the Cardinal's first NorPac conference game.
Junior Liz Robinson scored an unassisted goal at 8:06 during a tussle in front of the net to put Stanford in the lead. Robinson's goal was her first of the season and seventh career goal. Junior Julia Drewes scored at 32:19 off of a penalty shot awarded after a corner, her first goal of the season and second career goal.
The Cardinal looked impressive as it out shot the Mountaineers, 15-0. Liz Robinson led Stanford with five shots and Julia Drewes followed with three shots. Freshman Bailey Richardson also contributed a pair of shots.
The Cardinal tallied eight penalty corners, while Appalachian State had two corners.
Senior Appalachian State goalkeeper Kate Ryno recorded nine saves in the goal.
Stanford will continue a six-game road trip against American University in College Park, MD on Saturday, September 10 (1:00 pm, ET). The Cardinal will remain in College Park to play at Maryland on Sunday, September 11 (3:00 pm, ET) and versus Bucknell on Tuesday, September 13 (7:00 pm, ET).
