Final Stats

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Stanford's Candice Wiggins scored 28 points Sunday to lead the Cardinal to a 78-66 victory over Arizona, ending the nation's longest home court winning streak at 34 games.

Arizona (11-4, 3-2) had not lost at McKale Center since a 78-71 setback to Louisiana State on Nov. 22, 2002.

The Preseason Pac-10 favorites and co-defending league champions played close until the Cardinal (13-2, 5-1) went on an 18-1 run late in the second half for the victory.

Wiggins, who scored a season-high 31 points on Friday in a victory over Arizona State, was hot again. Her three-pointer with 4:45 left put Stanford ahead 56-45.

Dee Dee Wheeler led Arizona with 25 points. Shawtinice Polk added 12 for the Wildcats.

Stanford received offensive support from Kelley Suminski and Susan Borchardt, who added 20 and 11 points, respectively.

The Wildcats took their first lead of the game at 36-35 in the opening minute of the second half when Wheeler and Katrina Linder connected on back-to-back field goals.

They had a 56-50 lead when Danielle Adefeso scored with 11:28 left in the game.

That's when Stanford took off, scoring 15 points straight. Wiggins' three-pointer capped off the 15-0 surge.

Borchardt quickly followed with a three-pointer to put the game away for a 68-57 lead. Stanford took a 60-56 lead with 6:42 left when T'Nae Thiel made two free throws shortly after Wiggins connected on a pair of charity tosses.
