Jr. Julia Drewes made a shot for the Cardinal, but it was not enough to match the Tigers. Pacific was credited with a team goal from the shootout period, moving ahead, 4-3.

"Today we had a great first half," said head coach Lesley Irvine. "We created a lot of offensive opportunities, which is something we've been working on. At this point we're just trying to put 70 minutes together because there were a few glaring errors that Pacific capitalized on. I'm very proud of the way the team played in overtime, when I think we dominated. We were very unlucky in the shootout. It was a phenomenal game of field hockey."

Freshman Bailey Richardson picked up her first defensive save of the season during the first overtime period. Richardson's defensive save was the Cardinal's second of the season.

Stanford outshot the Tigers, 27-16, led by Fr. Caroline Hussey with 10 shots and Halliday with five shots. Campos paced Pacific in shooting with seven shots, followed by Atilano and Jennifer Chaney with three shots.

Pacific posted six penalty corners, with Campos scoring on two corners. Stanford earned three penalty corners, one in each period of play.

Fr. goalkeeper Sarah Scheller made the second start of her collegiate career, tallying four saves in 100 minutes in the goal. So. goalkeeper Valerie Niles earned six saves for the Tigers.

Stanford will return to the road for three games, matching up against Davidson on Friday, October 7 (3:30 pm, PT). The Cardinal will then travel to Winston-Salem, NC to play North Carolina on Sunday, October 9 (11:00 am, PT) and Wake Forest on Monday, October 10 (1:00 pm, PT).
