STANFORD
Stanford remained unbeaten on the road this season (3-0) and won its third straight road contest (Navy, Washington State, Arizona) for the first time since winning its first four road contests of the 1995 season (San Jose State, Utah, Oregon, Arizona State).
Stanford won back-to-back Pac-10 road games on successive Saturdays for the first time since beating Oregon and Arizona State in 1995.
Stanford defeated Arizona for the third straight time in the first meeting between the clubs since 2002. The Cardinal has also won four of the last five contests between the teams.
Stanford did not make a turnover in the contest, while Arizona had five ... Stanford is 3-0 this season when the Cardinal has fewer turnovers than its opponent and 0-2 when they commit more turnovers than their opponent.
Trent Edwards tossed two touchdown passes, giving him five TD throws in the last two games ... Edwards was also Stanford's leading rusher for the second straight contest, finishing with 32 yards on nine carries.
Jon Alston had three sacks to raise his team-leading total this season to 5.0 ... Alston has 19.0 career sacks.
Anthony Kimble caught a career-high four passes for 37 yards.
Michael Horgan scored his first touchdown at Stanford with 11:17 remaining in the third quarter when he caught a 10-yard TD pass from Trent Edwards to cap a long Stanford drive to open the second half.
Michael Sgroi made his 39th and 40th career field goals at Stanford to move past Ken Naber (39, 1977-80) into fifth-place on Stanford's career field goal list ... Sgroi also made both of his PAT attempts to increase his career total to 80, remaining in sole possession of seventh-place on that all-time school list.
