Final Stats

Corvallis, Ore. - The Stanford men's soccer team posted their first Pac-10 victory of the season with a 3-2 overtime win over Oregon State this afternoon at Lorenz Field. The Beavers fell to 8-4-4 overall and 4-2 in the Pac-10, while the Cardinal (4-8-2, 1-4-1) avenged last weekend's 3-1 loss to OSU in the Bay Area.

Stanford got an early goal at 13:55 when sophomore defender Ryan Oblak (Wichita, KS) scored on a direct free kick. But the Beavers tied it at 35:18 when Lucas Egenwall headed in a cross from Alex Asai.

OSU took a 2-1 lead in the 51st minute on a penalty kick by Ryan Johnson, but Johnson was sent off with a red card two minutes later. The Beavers held on to their lead until late, when Stanford senior midfielder Cooper McKee (St. Louis, MO) scored in the 83rd minute to tie it. Sophomore midfielder Dan Shapiro (New Haven, CT) sent a through ball down the left side to McKee, who scored on a hard, low shot.

The Cardinal ended the game early in the first overtime period, as junior defender Galen Thompson (Denver, CO) sent a cross in from the left side, and it was met by Michael Brown (Clinton, MS) on a one-timer right in front of the right post for the game-winner.

All three Stanford players scored their first goals of the season. The Cardinal entered the contest having scored only eight goals in 13 games, and three goals was a season high.

Stanford continues their road trip traveling to Seattle to take on Washington, October 23 at 1 p.m.
