Stanford, Calif. - Theresa Logar and Celia Durkin each picked up two wins yesterday to advance to the singles quarterfinals of the Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northwest Women's Regional Championships at the Taube Tennis Center. In doubles, two Cardinal pairs advanced to the quarters, as Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey and Durkin and Amber Liu both picked up a win in the round of 16 on Saturday.
Durkin will play in two quarterfinal matches on Sunday, after winning a pair of matches in singles yesterday, including a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Washington State's Ekaterina Burduli, and an 8-1 win in doubles with Liu over Washington tandem Saskia Nauenberg and Allison Rainey.
Logar's pair of victories against Pac-10 opponents sets the junior up for a quarterfinal match against Cal's Stephanie Kusano today. Barnes and Yelsey added an 8-1 victory over Oregon duo Claudia Hirt and Anna Leksinska, as all four of Stanford's returning All-Americans continue to compete at the ITA Northwest Regional on Sunday.
