Stanford, Calif. - Cal's Suzi Fodor and Fresno State's Lucia Sainz and Katharina Winterhalter captured the 2005 Wilson/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Northwest Women's Regional Championship in singles and doubles, respectively, this morning at the Taube Tennis Center.
In singles, Fodor scored a 1-6, 6-2, 6-1, victory over Stanford's Theresa Logar to claim the 2005 ITA Northwest Regional title.
Stanford's Alice Barnes and Anne Yelsey won their semifinal match in doubles, defeating Cal's Claire Ilcinkas and Stephanie Kusano, 8-4. Sainz and Winterhalter advanced to the title match with an 8-6 victory over Cardinal pair Amber Liu and Celia Durkin, before posting an 8-6 victory over Barnes and Yelsey to capture the ITA Northwest Regional crown.
The singles finalists and doubles champion from this event, along with at-large selections, earned spots in the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships hosted by The Ohio State University at the Racquet Club of Columbus, on Nov. 3-6.
