Stanford, Calif. - After more than 87 minutes of scoreless soccer, USC netted the lone goal of the night to take a 1-0 win over Stanford tonight at Maloney Field. The Cardinal drops to 8-6-2 on the season with a 2-3-1 record in Pac-10 play, while the Trojans recorded their third win of the season with a 4-1-1 mark in conference action.
Stanford out-shot USC, 11-8, but a cross from the right wing got Amy Rodriguez the ball and she fed it in front of the goal to Nini Loucks, who converted the pass into her third goal of the year in teh 88th minute.
Senior Martha West took five shots on the night, while sophomore keeper Erica Holland picked up four saves in her third-straight start in goal.
West and the Cardinal's other six seniors will be honored on Sunday, as Stanford hosts No. 4 UCLA in the final home match of the season. UCLA posted a 2-0 win at Cal this afternoon, improving to 15-1-1 and 5-0-1 in conference play. West, along with Megan Alderete, Elizabeth Barnard, Jenny Farenbaugh, Hayley Hunt, Lindsey Hunt and Leah Tapscott will be recognized before the start of the match.
