Stanford, Calif. - No. 11/10 Stanford stormed past Love & Basketball to take a 92-65 victory at Maples Pavilion, despite a strong showing by its opponent in today's lone exhibition game for the Cardinal. Four Cardinal players finished in double digits and seven pulled down at least five rebounds.
Brooke Smith led the way with 21 points, and added seven rebounds and four assists. Junior Kristen Newlin finished the day with 15 points and four rebounds, while sophomore Candice Wiggins scored 14 points and recorded seven rebounds and freshman Jillian Harmon tallied 11 points and pulled down seven rebounds.
Love & Basketball owned a one-point lead six minutes into the contest, but the Cardinal out-scored its opponent 33-16 to end the first half and secure the game.
Stanford will travel to Minnesota for the Subway Classic next weekend, opening against Long Island on Saturday at 1 p.m., CT.
