Indian Wells, Calif. - Stanford sophomore Whitney Deason captured the runner-up title at the 2006 National Collegiate Tennis Classsic on Sunday. Deason posted four-straight wins to arrive in the finals, before falling 6-0, 7-5 to Dianne Matias of USC.
Deason and the Cardinal will be back in action in two weeks as Stanford opens the dual season with home matches against Hawai'i and Fresno State.
