Cardinal Extends Winning Streak to 64 With Win Over Bruins

Top-ranked Stanford extended its winning streak to 64 today with a 6-0 victory over UCLA at the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Cardinal, ranked No. 1 in the nation, swept all six singles matches to secure the win. The doubles point was not played due to rain.

Senior Amber Liu, the two-time defending NCAA singles champion and two-time Player of the Year, beat Riza Zalameda of UCLA at No. 1 singles 2-6, 6-4, 6-0. Alice Barnes won her match at No. 2 singles by defeating the Bruin's Laura Gordon 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

The Cardinal won in straight sets at Nos. 3-5 singles as Theresa Logar, Anne Yelsey and Whitney Deason beat their Bruin counterparts. Celia Durkin won at No. 6 singles to complete Stanford's sweep of the singles competition.

Stanford will play at USC tomorrow in a makeup of a match that was cut short due to rain on Friday. The Trojans, ranked fourth in the nation, lead 1-0 after winning the doubles point. Next weekend, Stanford visits Washington State and Washington.
