Philadelphia, Penn. - Sophomore David Sender won three events last night at the Temple Invitational to lead the No. 4 Cardinal (4-0) to a 211.750-198.600 victory over second place finisher No. 15 Temple. Springfield finished third with a team score of 178.750 and M.I.T. finished fourth with 175.450.
Stanford posted first-place team finishes on the floor, rings, vault, parallel bar and high bar. The Cardinal finished first and third on the floor exercise, with Sender taking the event with a score of 9.650 and junior Dylan Carney placing third with a 9.050.
Junior Alex Schorsch led a sweep of the top five places on the still rings, winning the event with an impressive 9.650. Sender followed in second with 9.050, while sophomore Sho Nakamori and junior Peter Derman tied for third with scores of 8.600. Sophomore Jason Shen rounded out the top-five sweep with a score of 8.500.
Sender posted another top finish on the vault with a 9.350, leading a 1-3 sweep on the event. Sophomore Eli Alcaraz followed closely in second with a score of 9.300 and Carney finishing third with 9.250. Sender also finished first on the parallel bars with a score of 9.150 and Shen finished second on the event with a 8.900.
The Cardinal finished by claiming the top four spots on the high bar, led by senior Nate Downs with a season-best 9.600. Carney finished second (9.500), Shen was third (9.000) and Nakamori nabbed the fourth place (8.850) to lead the Cardinal to a team win on the high bar.
Stanford remains in Pennsylvania to take on Penn State tonight at 5:00 pm.
