Second-ranked Stanford (18-3,9-1) will face third-ranked UCLA (21-3, 8-1) for the second time this season after a 4-2 victory over the Bruins in the semi-finals of the Gaucho Invitational. Stanford travels down to UCLA for a 1:00PM MPSF matchup on Saturday, April 15.
UCLA suffered its first MPSF loss last Saturday at top-ranked USC, 6-4. Bruin sophomore Gabrielle Domanic scored two goals in that game, as well as a goal apiece by Thalia Munro and Kristina Kunkel. UCLA goalie Emily Feher made 3 saves against USC. UCLA's lead scorer, Kelly Rulon, has 48 goals this season while Feher leads the Bruin with 116 saves at goal.
Stanford remains strong in scoring and defense with 205 goals scored in 21 games, ranking third in the MPSF, and averaging 8.19 saves per game, ranking fifth. Stanford's lead scorer, freshman Lauren Silver, has 39 goals in 21 games played, followed by junior Katie Hansen with 38 goals this season. Goalie Meridith McColl has been the sole goalie for Stanford, making all 172 saves this season for the Cardinal.
In the Stanford and UCLA matchup at the Gaucho Invitational, Silver had two goals against the Bruins while Hansen and junior Christina Hewko captured a goal apiece. UCLA's Gabrielle Domanic and Courtney Mathewson each scored one goal for the Bruins.
Stanford will travel to its final regular season game at eighth-ranked San Jose State on Friday, April 21, at 4:00PM.
