Josh Hustedt Places Fourth At Pac-10 Decathlon Championship

Eugene, Or - Sophomore Josh Hustedt finished in fourth place among 13 competitors on Sunday afternoon at the 2006 Pacific-10 Decathlon Championship at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.

Hustedt had a two-day total of 6,992 points. Jake Arnold of Arizona won the ten-event competition with 7,691 points.

Hustedt, who has a season and career-best of 7,070 points, began Sunday with 876 points in the 110 meter hurdles (14.78). His second-best effort of the day was 804 points in the pole vault (15-3, 4.65m).

Freshman Lauren Stewart placed fifth among 13 competitors in the Pac-10 Heptathlon Championship. Stewart surpassed her previous career-best mark of 5,110 points with a two-day total of 5,141 points. Her point total is sixth-best in school history. Jacquelyn Johnson of Arizona State won the seven-event competition with a career-best 5,987 points. It was Johnson's second Pac-10 title in the last three years.

Stewart's best event on Sunday was the 800 meters where a time of 2:28.53 gained her 711 points.

The regular portion of the Pac-10 Championships will be held May 13-14 at the University of Oregon. The Cardinal women are the defending Pac-10 champions.
