Evanston, Il - The Stanford field hockey team recorded its first shutout of the season with a 2-0 decision over Yale in a neutral site game on Sunday afternoon at Northwestern University.
Madison Bell, a junior goalkeeper, was credited with the shutout. Bell recorded six saves as the Cardinal increased its season record to 3-6.
Stanford scored the only goal it needed at 1:52 in the first half on an unassisted score by Aska Sturdevan, her fifth goal of the year. Then at the 49:40, Jess Zutz fired a shot into the Yale net for her team leading sixth goal of the season.
The Cardinal fired 23 shots compared to 14 for Yale.
