STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - Matt Haryasz scored six of his 16 points in the final 3:57 and Stanford dealt Oregon its 11th straight defeat in the Bay Area with a wild 64-62 victory over the Ducks on Saturday.
Oregon's Aaron Brooks drove the baseline and missed a shot to tie under pressure with about 3 seconds left, then had to be held back by his teammates after the buzzer sounded because he was angry no foul had been called.
The 6-foot-11 Haryasz, the Cardinal's leading scorer and rebounder, returned after missing Thursday's win over Oregon State with a sprained left ankle but didn't start. He checked in at the 16:29 mark of the first half and carried the Cardinal in the waning moments.
Malik Hairston scored nine straight points for Oregon in the final 3:39 to keep it close, but Haryasz had a three-point play among his six in a row for the Cardinal.
Hairston finished with 21 points - 15 in the second half - and seven rebounds and Ray Schafer 10 points and six boards for Oregon, which lost 77-66 at California on Thursday night and has dropped four of its last five. Brooks was held to seven points.
Chris Hernandez had 12 points and four assists for the Cardinal.
Stanford's Lawrence Hill controlled the ball off Hernandez's miss with 35.2 seconds left, but flung it back over the midcourt line for a half-court violation, giving the ball back to the Ducks. Hairston missed on the other end and Bryce Taylor got an offensive rebound 19 seconds left to set up Oregon's final chance.
The Ducks haven't won a conference game at either Cal or Stanford since beating the Golden Bears on Feb. 12, 2000, and they are 1-12 on their annual trip to Northern California since the 1999-2000 season.
Maarty Leunen scored 11 points but sprained his right ankle when he hit a long jumper in the final minute of the first half and did not return. He walked without help into the locker room at halftime but was clearly in pain.
For the first time in six games, Oregon (7-8, 1-2 Pac-10) used the same starting lineup in consecutive contests. Only Leunen and Aaron Brooks have started every game for the Ducks.
Oregon used a 9-0 run early in the second half to pull within 45-41 after Taylor's 3-pointer at 13:55. Stanford switched regularly between man-to-man and zone defense to try to slow down the bigger, more physical Ducks, but had a hard time stopping Oregon in man.
The Cardinal (6-6 overall, 2-2) completed a sweep of the Oregon schools after losing their first two conference games last week at UCLA and USC. Stanford dropped its first three Pac-10 games last season but then beat Arizona and bounced back to reach the NCAA tournament in coach Trent Johnson's first season.
Stanford, which had a preseason ranking of No. 13 and was picked to finish second in the conference behind Arizona, has won five straight against Oregon.
Stanford used a 10-0 run midway through the first half to build a 24-15 lead, holding the cold-shooting Ducks scoreless for nearly four minutes. Oregon began the game by missing 15 of its first 21 shots.
Oregon junior forward Ivan Johnson was suspended for the game for what the school said was "not living up to personal expectations previously established between Johnson and head coach Ernie Kent."
Johnson averages 8.4 points and 3.1 rebounds.
