Boston, Mass. - Stanford Men's Rowing defeated two U.S. National team fours, Harvard College and all other teams except the Canadian National team four Sunday at the Head of the Charles, the world's most prestigious fall regatta. The University Champion four was made up of seniors Nate Rooks, Donny Simkin and Kevin Baum, along with junior Silas Stafford and sophomore coxswain Graham Carroll.
Rowing in a shell provided by Trinity College and men's head coach Larry Gluckman, Stanford rowed with power, length and rhythm.
Men's head coach Craig Amerkhanian celebrated the win as a "testament to the culture that is Stanford Rowing."
One hundred thousand people lined the shores of the Charles River as crews from around the world competed. Assistant men's coach Pete Giese provided the leadership and women's head coach Yaz Farooq the strategy as the men shaved through the course en route to their historic win.
