Farmville, Va - Freshman forward Rachel Mozenter scored two goals and junior goalkeeper Madison Bell recorded her second shutout of the season to lead the Stanford field hockey team to a decisive 5-0 victory over Longwood University in a NorPac game on Sunday afternoon.
Stanford wasted no time jumping on the scoreboard, recording its first goal 2:56 into the contest as Mozenter took a pass from Caroline Hussey and slid it past Longwood goalkeeper Erin West for the 1-0 lead. Mozenter tallied her second goal a short time later, as she timed a cross pass that came in from the right side from Jess Zutz to give the Cardinal a 2-0 lead nearly six minutes in.
Stanford added two more goals before halftime to hold a 4-0 cushion over the Lancers. Zutz made it 3-0 at the 7:39 mark, while Julia Drewes tallied the Cardinal's final goal of the half on a penalty corner with 5:57 to go in the half.
Aska Sturdevan closed out the scoring for Stanford collecting a loose ball in front and firing it past West for the 5-0 final.
