Farmville, Va - The Stanford field hockey team recorded its second consecutive shutout in as many days as the Cardinal scored a 3-0 victory at Radford University on Monday afternoon in a NorPac game.
The Cardinal scored two goals in the first 21 minutes and added a late tally to improve to 8-9 overall and 5-1 in the NorPac. The Highlanders fall to 4-13 and 1-4 in the conference.
Stanford opened the scoring 9:24 into the match when Jess Zutz redirected Bailey Richardson's pass into the circle. In the 21st minute, Caroline Hussey gave the Cardinal a 2-0 lead when she deflected Zutz' shot into the back of the cage.
With Stanford controlling much of the first half play, Radford had a late flurry of short corners, but Cardinal goalkeeper Madison Bell made three of her four total saves to keep the Highlanders from getting on the board.
The Cardinal scored a late goal to make it 3-0. Hussey tallied her second goal of the game when she poked home a rebound of Richardson's initial shot on a short corner with 1:07 to play.
Stanford out shot Radford, 15-11.
The Cardinal returns to regular season action at the NorPac Championship (Nov. 2-4) at Davidson, North Carolina.
