Santa Cruz, California - The Cardinal Women Sailors were welcomed to their final event of the fall, the Women's Fall Pacific Coast Championships, by ideal sailing conditions, beautiful weather, and abundant marine life in Santa Cruz, Ca. With a #1 Ranking for much of the season, the Cardinal had recently gotten the target off its back with a slide to 6th, surpassed by teams attending multiple East Coast events where the Cardinal sailors were not present. The ranking drop motivated them towards their goal for the weekend, and they not only took home the Pacific Coast Championship title, but did so with a combined score of 29 points, 15 points better that of their nearest competitor, University of Hawaii. A-division team Caroline Young and Joanna Madsen and B-division team Taylor Grimes and Katherine Schlosser both won their divisions, finishing all but one race in the top three. Third place overall went to University of California at Irvine, fourth to University of Southern California, and fifth to University of California at Santa Barbara.
