Celia Durkin Advances In Consolation Singles At ITA Indoors

STANFORD, Calif.- Junior Celia Durkin is the lone Cardinal representative remaining at the ITA National Indoor Championships at Columbus, Ohio.

No. 20 Durkin defeated No. 31 Caitlin Burke of Wisconsin 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (6) in the opening round of the consolation singles bracket to advance. Also playing in the consolation bracket, No. 3 Theresa Logar dropped a tough 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-2 decision to No. 106 Inke Reimers of Nebraska.

In the main draw, sophomore Jessica Nguyen was edged 6-4, 6-4 by Jelena Pandzic of Fresno Pacific in the second round.

Stanford's only doubles team of Durkin and Nguyen were downed 8-2 by William & Mary's Megan Moulton-Levy and Katarina Zorcic.

Durkin will continue her play on Saturday afternoon.
