Women Throwers Perform Well On First Day Of Triton Invitational

Stanford track and field began competition today at the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, Calif. on the campus of UC San Diego. Katy Elsbury, Jaynie Goodbody, and Melissa Yunghans all performed very well in the women's hammer on the opening day of the meet.

Elsbury took 12th place with her throw of 179-10 (54.82m), while Goodbody finished right behind her teammate in 13th place as she recorded a distance of 177-05 (54.09m), missing the NCAA Regional Qualifying Mark by only .06m. Yunghans finished as the No. 26 thrower in the event as she posted a mark of 154-11 (47.22m).

The rest of the Cardinal team will begin competition tomorrow, with the first field event beginning at 10:00 a.m. (Men's Hammer) and the first running event starting at 11:00 a.m. (Women's 400 Meter Relay).
