Stanford track and field concluded competition on the final day of the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, Calif. at UC San Diego. The Cardinal took first place in eight different events, while taking the top two spots in three of them.
On the women's side Jakki Bailey took first place in the 100 meter dash as she posted a time of 11.66.
The 800 meter run was once again a very successful event for the Cardinal as they swept the top four spots. Alicia Follmar took the top spot as she posted a time of 2:09.12, followed closely behind by teammate Arianna Lambie who posted a time of 2:09.95. Lauren Centrowitz (2:10.36) and Kaylin Pennington (2:11.73) rounded out the top four.
In the 3000 meter run it was Katie Harrington capturing first place with a time of 9:48.81, while teammates Maddie O'Meara (9:51.12) and Kate Niehaus (9:54.02) finished second and third, respectively. Erica McLain leaped to the top mark in the long jump as she posted a season best distance of 20-07 (6.27m).
For the men, it was Russell Brown (1:50.51) and Garrett Heath (1:50.61) taking the first and second in the 800 meter run. In the 1500 meter run Brett Gotcher claimed the top spot as he posted an NCAA Regional Qualifying Time of 3:44.54. The 5000 meter run saw Hari Mix finish first with his winning time of 14:18.21.
In the discus throw Michael Robertson continued his successful season as he posted the top mark of the meet with his season best distance of 205-02 (62.55m).
The team returns to action on Saturday, April 29 for the Payton Jordan Cardinal Invitational at Stanford. The following week marks the beginning of the post-season as Stanford will be hosting the Pac-10 Championships on May 5-6, and May 12-13.
