No. 1 Cardinal To Be Well-Represented In Pac-10 Semis

STANFORD, Calif.- Celia Durkin, Theresa Logar and Stanford's top doubles team of Lindsay Burdette and Anne Yelsey are all through to the main draw semifinals after the second day of the Pac-10 Championships.

Also winning on Friday was Lejla Hodzic, as her 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 win over USC's Judy DeVera in the Invitational draw translates into a semifinal berth on Saturday against USC's Julie Smekodub.

Durkin cruised to a 6-4, 7-5 victory over USC's Sarah Fansler and will square off against California's Susie Babos on Saturday morning in the semis. Logar advanced to the final four following a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 win over teammate Burdette. Logar earns a date with USC's Lindsey Nelson on Saturday.

Three Stanford doubles squads were in action on Friday, with first round matches getting underway. The Cardinal's top team of Burdette and Yelsey picked up a pair of wins to reach the semifinals. After winning 8-5 in the opening round, Burdette and Yelsey downed UCLA's Elizabeth Lumpkin and Stephanie Wetmore 8-4 in the quarterfinals.

Celia Durkin and Jessica Nguyen teamed up for an 8-5 opening round win before falling 9-7 in their next match. The duo of Whitney Deason and Logar was bounced 8-1 in the first round by California's Susie Babos and Zsuzsanna Fodor.

Semifinal action is slated for Saturday with singles at 11 a.m. and doubles at 3:30 p.m.
