Boston, Mass. - The Stanford University women's lacrosse team fell to Boston University 12-9 in its final regular season game of 2007. After playing to a 5-5 tie in the first half, the Cardinal allowed seven second half Terrier goals in the loss. Stanford drops to 6-8 overall to finish the regular season.

Boston freshman midfielder McKinley Curro started off the scoring just two minutes into the action, followed by back-to-back goals from Stanford junior attack Daphne Patterson to give the Cardinal a 2-1 lead. The Terriers answered with two goals of their own, including a free position score from McKinley.

With BU up 3-2 and 4:31 remaining in the first half, Patterson notched her third goal of the game to knot the score at three goals apiece. Just 35 seconds later, the Terriers responded with two more goals to take a 5-3 lead with just 2:55 left in the half. However, the Cardinal finished out the half with two goals of their own from sophomore midfield Jamie Nesbitt and a score with just five seconds remaining from junior midfield Megan McClain, tying the score at five after the first 20 minutes.

Stanford scored its third straight goal to start off the second half, when Patterson dished off to freshman attack Dana Lindsay to give the Cardinal a 6-5 lead. From there, though, Boston went on a 6-0 scoring run that saw three goals from sophomore midfield Sarah Dalton and two from freshman midfield Traci Landy. The Terrier defense held the Cardinal scoreless for nearly 18 minutes, giving BU an 11-6 lead with just under nine minutes left.

Though Stanford got back-to-back goals from Nesbitt and McClain, Boston's Dalton answered with the Terriers' 12th goal, her fifth of the game at the 4:28 mark. Despite a final free position goal from freshman midfield Leigh Lucas, the Cardinal could never come back from the 6-0 run.

Stanford was led by Patterson's three goals and one assist, the only assist of the game for the Cardinal. McClain joined Patterson as the only other multiple goal scorer with two goals on the day. Nesbitt, Lindsay, Lucas and sophomore midfield Bess Siegfried notched one score apiece. Dalton and Landy led the Terrier offense with five and three goals, respectively.

Junior goalkeeper Jenna Golden needed just seven saves to record the win for BU. Cardinal goalie Laura Shane recorded eight saves in the loss.The Cardinal returns to action in the MPSF Tournament this Friday. The Cardinal received the No. 3 seed in the tournament and will face off against the No. 6 seed in the quarterfinals at UC Davis' Aggie Stadium on Friday.
