The final day of the Pac-10 Track and Field Championships concluded today at Cobb Track and Angell Field. The Stanford women gained two spots on this last day as they finished in second place with a final score of 134.33. The Cardinal men earned an eighth place finish with their final score of 72 points. It was Arizona State winning the team championship on the women's side as they recorded 158 total points. Oregon finished as the men's champions with an overall score of 114 points.
On the men's side, Russell Brown earned himself a Pac-10 Championship in a heated battle of the 1500 meter run as he took the top spot with a time of 3:46.89. Garrett Heath took the No. 3 spot with his time of 3:49.74.
In the triple jump, it was Feranmi Okanlami taking third place with his distance of 50-04 ¾ (15.36m).
Jacob Gomez managed a fourth place finish in a very exciting, competitive 5000 meter run as he finished with a time of 14:14.17.
The finals of the women's 1500 meter run yielded a Stanford sweep of the top three spots with Arianna Lambie (4:19.12), becoming the Pac-10 Champion. Lauren Centrowitz (4:19.76), and Alicia Follmar (4:21.72) second and third, respectively. Lambie continued her tremendous competition, becoming a multiple champion after winning the 5000 meter run in a time of 15:57.59.
Erica McLain defended her triple jump title as she earned her fifth career Pac-10 Championship with an American collegiate record mark of 46-05 ¼ (14.15m).
In the 4x100 relay, the Cardinal earned a second place finish as they recorded a time of 44.78. Jakki Bailey earned a third place finish in the 100 meter dash finals as she recorded a time of 11.68. In the 200 meter dash, Bailey once again scored a third place finish as she posted a time of 23.96.
In the 800 meter run, Ashley Freeman scored a second place finish with her time of 2:06.12. Kara Bennett earned a third place finish in the javelin throw as she posted a distance of 137-10 (42.02m).
Up next for the Cardinal is the NCAA West Regional on May 25-26 in Eugene, Oregon.
