Final Stats

STANFORD, Calif. - With a fresh Top-10 ranking in hand, the No. 7/8 Stanford women's basketball team played their part perfectly, blitzing the Chico State Wildcats 95-44 in an exhibition contest Saturday afternoon at Maples Pavilion.

Jillian Harmon scored 18 points on 8-of-12 shooting and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Cardinal, while freshman Kayla Pedersen also posted a double-double with 13 points and 10 boards.

Fellow rookie Jeanette Pohlen scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Cissy Pierce scored 12 points, and, returning after missing all of last season due to a knee injury, Rosalyn Gold-Onwude scored 11 points to round out the five Cardinal players scoring in double figures.

Stanford led 48-15 after the first half, and in the final minutes got the lead to its highest, and final, point at 51 points. For the game, Stanford shot 51.9% from the field and outrebounded Chico State by a 53-32 margin.

The Cardinal defense showed its teeth as well, holding the Wildcats scoreless for the first 6:33 of the contest and limiting them to 18.5% shooting in the first half. Morgan Clyburn led all players with six blocks in the contest. Stanford scored the first 10 points of the game until Chico's Amanda Monteith hit a three-pointer with 13:27 to play in the first half.

The Wildcats did cut things to 15-8 a few minutes later, but a 33-7 Cardinal run over the remainder of the half put things out of reach.
