No. 3 Men's Swimming Concludes Second Day Of Texas Invitational

The No. 3 Stanford men's swimming had 15 swimmers compete in the finals on the second day of competition at the Texas Invitational Friday evening. The Cardinal currently sit in seventh place with 224.5 points, while Texas holds the top spot with 519 points.

In the 400 IM, it was Josh Charnin-Aker touching the wall first for Stanford as he swam to a sixth place overall finish with an NCAA `B' cut time of 3:52.20. Scott Lathrope was not far behind was not far behind as he earned an eighth place finish in an NCAA `B' cut with a time of 3:54.10. David Mosko (13th - 4:00.52) and Sven Hinrichsen (15th - 4:02.84) also competed in the event for the Cardinal.

Jason Dunford led the way for Stanford in the 200 free as he swam to a 16th place finish in a time of 1:38.67. Teammate Danny Beal posted a 23rd place finish in his time of 1:38.91, while Phillip Morrison (29th - 1:38.46) and David Mosko (31st - 1:39.41) also competed in the event.

In the 100 breast, Paul Kornfeld clocked an NCAA `B' cut time of 54.17 to earn a seventh place finish. Nate Cass touched the wall in ninth place as he posted an NCAA `B' cut of 54.12, while Chris Ash placed 12th in an NCAA `B' cut of 54.81. John Criste finished in 13th with a time of 55.38, while teammate Paul Zaich placed 15th in 56.21.

Eugene Godsoe captured a sixth place finish in the 100 back as he posted an NCAA `B' cut time of 47.93. Austin Staab swam to ninth place in an NCAA `B' cut time of 47.93, while teammate Patrick Simpkins finished 38th in a time of 52.71.

In the three-meter diving, Brent Eichenseer represented the Cardinal as he recorded a runner-up finish as he scored 343.40 points.

Stanford returns to action tomorrow as the prelims begin at 8:00 a.m., and the finals taking place at 6:00 p.m.
