Head Coach John Dunning
Opening Statement:
First I'd like to congratulate Sac State. I think they had another great season, they've had many under head coach Debby Colburg. I've known her the whole time she's been there. And she's one of the people who I admire most in our profession, and I'm sad that I don't get to coach against her again. I'd like to congratulate Cynthia and Foluke, I think that they played at an amazingly high level tonight and you can count on it every match.
On the difference between the games:
"I thought game 2 was a big thing, we'd been playing well in game 1, game 2 once in a while we'd our intensity drop. And I thought we played great in game 2 tonight. Game 3 I thought Sac State raised their level and put some pressure on us and we had to be a little more intense there for a couple minutes, but I don't think at this point there are games that are good for you too much one or another. I think that the level you're playing at and winning is what you do here.
On the upsets in the tournament
Some amazing upsets, and its just a sign of the parity in the sport. There are so many good teams. Women's volleyball is amazing, the number of good players. The skill level, all the teams are good.
On the third game of the match
I think that Sac State came out with a new intensity after the break and they pushed us just like every team we've played and every team were going to see on out. So I think it was good to come out on top of that game. They were a really good team and they made us raise our level.
On having played Cal Poly already:
You can say you've played a team already this season, but playoffs brings something entirely different out of every team. Just because we beat them before doesn't mean anything.
On playing with Bryn Kehoe
She's such a good athlete, so competitive, you can tell she's giving her best on every play. It's awesome to have a player like that on the court with you, that you can just look at and know that she's on the right page with you.
