No. 11 Stanford Defeats Iowa State

Stanford women's gymnastics finished off a busy weekend with a 195.800-194.600 victory over Iowa State in Ames. The Cardinal (4-3) used strong efforts from redshirt freshman Allyse Ishino and senior Tabitha Yim to push their record over .500 on the season. Stanford defeated the Cyclones in every event except for the floor, in which they only feel by two-tenths of a point.

The Cardinal started the day with a strong score of 49.300 on bars behind Yim and Ishino as they both scored a 9.900. Stanford overall had the top three scores in the entire meet in the event, as senior Liz Tricase earned a 9.875 for her routine. With Iowa State scoring a 48.675 score on their routines, the Cardinal was able to jump out to a big early lead.

Stanford moved to vault, where three routines of 9.800 helped them win the event. Sophomore Blair Ryland, freshman Danielle Ikoma and senior Alex Pintchouk recorded the high scores, to give the Cardinal a 98.250-97.250 lead halfway through the day.

The Cardinal moved to the floor, where they put forth three routines of 9.850 or better to seal the meet victory. Pintchouk scored a 9.850, while junior Kelly Fee was able to post a mark of 9.875. Yim finished up the event with her second score of 9.900 for the day and the Cardinal easily defeated Iowa State in the event.

The team was able to finish their day on beam, scoring a 48.850 and coasting to the victory. The Cyclones were led by Nikki Dilbert, who scored a 39.325 in the all-around.

Stanford will return to action on Friday, Feb. 15, when they travel to Corvallis and face Pac-10 rival Oregon State.
