PALOS VERDES, Calif.- The Stanford women's golf team returned to action today after its winter layoff with the first round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif, by finishing sixth with a 16-over-par 300.
The 16-team field, includes current leader UCLA, with a 4-over-par score of 288. The Bruins are followed by Florida, Pepperdine, BYU, and USC in a four team tie in second with a 14-over-par 298.
Stanford was led on the day by sophomore, Angela King with a season-best score of 72. The 1-over-par round currently ties her for seventh in the individual competition, just two strokes off the lead.
Junior, Ki-Shui Liao was the next Stanford finisher with a 4-over-par score of 75. Her round, which ties her season best, currently places her in a tie for 19th.
The third position for the Cardinal is held by sophomore, Catherina Wang, who carded a 5-over-par 76, which ties her for 31st.
Finishing with a 6-over-par 76, was freshman, Rebecca Durham. Durham sits in a tie for 38th after one round.
Completing the Stanford five was junior, Mari Chun who carded a 10-over-par 81 and currently sits in a tie for 73rd.
Stanford will be back on the course tomorrow for day two of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge.
