Stanford Eighth After Day Two In Palos Verdes

Day 2 Results

PALOS VERDES, Calif.- The Stanford women's golf team returned to action today for the second round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge. Stanford entered the day in sixth place and played well, but dropped a couple of spots into eighth entering tomorrow's final round. Stanford shot 22-over-par 306 for the day, giving them a two-round total of 38-over par 606.

USC played extremely well to take over the lead in the tournament, firing the low rounds of the day by shooting 4-over-par 288 to give them a 2-day total of 18-over-par 586. UCLA saw their ten stroke lead coming in to the day evaporate as they shot a collective 15-over-par 299 on Tuesday to fall a stroke behind the Trojans. Florida also played well and notched a 7-over-par 291 to finish in third after day two just three strokes off the lead.

For the second consecutive day Angela King played very well to lead the Cardinal, firing a 2-over-par 73. Her two-day total of 3-over-par 145 currently puts her in seventh place, just four strokes off the overall lead.

Catherina Wang continued to hold pace, shooting a 6-over-par 77 to for a two-day total of 11-over-par 153. She currently sits in a tie for 34th overall.

Ki-Shui Liao finished her round with an 8-over-par 79. This gives Liao a two-day total of 12-over-par 154 and a tie for 37th overall.

Shooting four strokes better than yesterday, Mari Chun carded a 6-over-par 77. This gives Chun a two-day total of 16-over-par 158 and 58th place overall

Finally, Rebecca Durham struggled to a12-over-par 83 on the day. She sits at 18-over-par 160 in a tie for 62nd.

Stanford will conclude play tomorrow at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge with the final of three rounds.
