No. 9 Stanford Falls To UCLA in First Road Meet

No. 9 Stanford Women's Gymnastics hit the road for the first time in 2008, but wasn't able to master No. 8 UCLA in suffering a heartbreaking 195.050-195.025 loss. Sophomore Allyse Ishino once again led the Cardinal with strong performances in her three events. Anna Li led the Bruins by providing a strong all-around performance.

On vault the Cardinal were led by Ishino who scored a 9.875 and has continued her stellar season thus far. Junior Nicole Ourada scored a 9.850 on vault to give Stanford another top performance.

On bars the Cardinal won the event 49.125-48.325 behind three top notch performances. Ishino scored a 9.900 and senior Tabitha Yim also put forth a 9.900. Junior Kelly Fee followed up her strong showing against Arizona and scored a 9.875 in the event. Freshman Jordan Schwikert led the Bruins with a 9.900.

The Cardinal weren't able to win either the beam or floor routines, but still had strong efforts from sophomore Tenaya West on floor and junior Heather Purnell on beam. West scored a 9.800 on floor and Purnell scored a 9.775 on beam.

Stanford will take a two-week break from competition and will return to competition Friday, Feb. 8 in Chicago, Ill. for the Chicago Style Invitational.
