STANFORD, Calif.- No. 6 Stanford posted its second shutout of the season on Friday afternoon, blanking No. 63 Arizona 7-0 at the Taube Tennis Stadium.
The Cardinal improves to 9-3 overall and extends its regular-season dual-match home match winning streak to 99. The Wildcats fall to 7-7 and have dropped seven of their last nine contests.
Stanford captured the doubles point with three convincing wins, including an 8-4 victory from senior Celia Durkin and freshman Carolyn McVeigh at the No. 3 position to complete the sweep.
The Cardinal also locked up five straight-set victories in singles action. Junior Jessica Nguyen and sophomore Lindsay Burdette both recorded 6-0, 6-0 victories while freshman Hilary Barte, Durkin and McVeigh also cruised to quick wins.
Freshman Jennifer Yen survived a tiebreaker against Arizona's Katie Orletsky 7-5, 5-7, 1-0 (10-8) at the No. 6 spot to ultimately finish off the match.
Stanford hosts No. 13 Arizona State on Saturday at 12 p.m., representing the Cardinal's last match until Mar. 24.
