Senior Night Success: No. 9 Stanford Edges No. 6 Alabama/No. 16 Nebraska

Stanford, Calif. - No. 9 Stanford women's gymnastics had a lot on the line Friday night at Maples Pavilion, and came up with a very impressive performance in their first place finish. The Cardinal (196.775) defeated No. 6 Alabama (195.775) and No. 16 Nebraska (196.050) to move their record to 11-4 and remained at 3-1 in Pac-10 competition.

The Cardinal was led by senior All-American Tabitha Yim, who scored a 39.600 in the all-around competition in her final home meet. Stanford also got a lift from senior Liz Tricase, who scored a 9.875 on vault and a 9.850 on bars. Following the senior trend, Lauren Elmore scored a 9.800 on beam and a 9.900 on floor exercise.

Stanford was able to win three of the four events, scoring a 49.050 as a team on bars, 49.275 on beam, and a 49.225 on floor exercise. On beam Stanford got a strong performance by redshirt freshman Allyse Ishino, who scored a 9.850. On floor, junior Kelly Fee continued her strong floor season by putting forth a strong routine and receiving a 9.850 from the judges. In total the Cardinal had 12 routines go for 9.850 or better in their second-best performance of the season.

After a strong performance by the Cardinal, there was a video tribute for each senior in front of the big crowd at Maples Pavilion. The regular season continues for the Cardinal in two weeks when they travel to UC Davis for a meet against the Aggies. The meet will be on Sunday, Mar. 23 at 6:00 p.m. and will conclude the regular season for the Cardinal.
