STANFORD, Calif. - Following a six-goal weekend highlighted by four goals in No. 2 Stanford's 8-7 overtime victory over No. 3 USC on Saturday, sophomore driver Kelly Eaton was named the MPSF Mikasa Women's Water Polo Player of the Week on Monday. The honor is the first of Eaton's career, and the second for the Cardinal (20-3, 8-1 MPSF) this season.

Eaton played a major role in helping the Cardinal keep a firm grip on second place in the MPSF through victories at No. 15 CS Northridge and No. 3 USC. The Menlo Park native scored two goals in Friday's 13-4 victory over the Matadors before exploding for four goals against the Women of Troy in Stanford's 8-7 overtime win. Her first two goals of the contest helped get the Cardinal out to a quick 3-0 lead, then her final two goals would serve as equalizers at clutch moments for Stanford.

With Stanford trailing 4-3 in the second half, Eaton converted a 6-on-5 goal to tie things up at 4-4, then later, with the Cardinal down 5-4 in the final minute of regulation, she broke through for a goal with 45 seconds remaining to force the game into overtime. The Cardinal eventually used a three-goal outburst in the first overtime session to capture the 8-7 win.

On the year, Eaton is now second on the team with 38 goals and 1.65 goals per game.
