STANFORD, Calif.- The Stanford field hockey program recently participated in a community outreach activity with KIPP Heartwood Academy in San Jose, welcoming students from the school to the Stanford campus for an interactive workshop.

KIPP students joined Stanford coaches and student-athletes in a clinic held on the Varsity Field Hockey Turf. Among the activities included were: a demonstration field hockey game, question and answer session, field hockey skill relay races and a tour of the athletic facilities on campus.

"We were thrilled to have the KIPP students on campus," said head coach Lesley Irvine. "We value any opportunity to share our program with the community and provide role models to young aspiring students and athletes. The KIPP students were such a pleasure to work with and we thank them for coming to campus and spending time with us."

"At KIPP, our students are college-bound from the first day of fifth grade," said Leslie Eichler, Director of Community Outreach and Summer Enrichment. "Traveling to Stanford to participate in a hands-on workshop with some of our nation's top academic student-athletes was an inspirational experience they will never forget."
