STANFORD, Calif.- No. 3 Stanford breezed past No. 46 Oregon 7-0 on Saturday afternoon in Eugene, improving to 17-4 overall while notching its fourth shutout of the year.
The Cardinal also moves to 6-1 in Pac-10 play, setting up next weekend's regular season finale against rival California (15-4, 6-1 Pac-10) with the conference title on the line.
Stanford looked very sharp on Saturday, winning its fifth consecutive match and 11 of the last 12 overall.
The Cardinal captured the doubles point easily to take a 1-0 lead, highlighted by an 8-1 victory from the No. 1 duo of Hilary Barte and Lindsay Burdette.
Singles play was dominated by the Cardinal, as Oregon was unable to pick up more than four games in any set. Stanford won all six matches in straight-sets.
Leading the singles charge was Barte, who cruised past Celine Rolly 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot to improve to 23-5 overall and 18-3 in dual match play.
The Cardinal has two matches remaining in the regular season, beginning with UC Davis at home on Tuesday, Apr. 15, at 3 p.m.
