Des Moines, Iowa- The Stanford women continued their tremendous meet with two more All-Americans being crowned and the Cardinal sitting in third place overall. The Cardinal women have totaled 21 points in three days of competition to trail only Arizona State with 36 points and LSU with 31.
The Cardinal were led by a pair of distance standouts. First, it was in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Allen finished fourth to earn her first All-America honor of her career in a time of 10:05.26. Allen just missed her own school record in the event, but did set a season best. Jenny Barringer of Colorado won the event in a collegiate record time of 9:29.20.
Later in the evening placed fourth in the 5,000 meters to earn Stanford's second All-America honor of the day. McWalters ran a personal best time of 15:50.18 to earn her sixth All-America honor of her career. Sally Kipyego of Texas Tech won the event in a stadium record time of 15:15.08.
In the prelims of the triple jump had the top mark of the day of 45-2 ½. McLain hit the mark on his first attempt and then passed her next two attempts knowing she was going to qualify for the final. She will attempt to earn her first outdoor national title tomorrow in the triple jump to go with her two NCAA titles in the indoor triple jump.

In the heptathlon completed the first day of competition in 25th place with 3,043 points. Stewart's top event was the 100 meter hurdles where she ran a time of 14.79 seconds to earn 870 points. Jacquelyn Johnson of Arizona State leads the competition 3,606 points.
The lone male competitor was in the semi-finals of the 110 meter high hurdles. Bradley finished 13th and did not qualify for the final. His time of 13.82 seconds was just off his own school record.
Stanford will be back on the track tomorrow for the final day of the NCAA Championships. , , and will be in action for the women, while will compete for the men. The Stanford women will look to hang on to a top-three finish. The best finish in program history came in 1982 when the Cardinal finished third.
