CHICAGO - The fifth-ranked Stanford men's golf team moved up one spot on the leaderboard from yesterday to finish the third and final round of the Fighting Illini Invitational in fourth place. The Cardinal recorded a 27-over-par 867, 15 strokes out of first place. Host Illinois captured the tournament title at Olympia Fields Country Club, while No. 20 Indiana and second-ranked Oklahoma State took second and third place, respectively.
Individually, junior Joseph Bramlett, in his first tournament appearance for the Cardinal since suffering an injury that forced him to miss the spring season, achieved the highest slot on the leaderboard for Stanford, finishing in a four way tie for seventh place with a three-over par 213. Bramlett recorded one under-par round in three tries, shooting a two-under-par 68 on the first day, and finished just four strokes behind Illinois' Zach Barlow and Indiana's Alex Martin, who shared the title with a one-under-par 209.
Senior Dodge Kemmer turned in the second best performance for the Cardinal, tying for 17th. Kemmer notched eight birdies over his three rounds and was consistent in his play throughout the weekend, shooting a six-over-par 216 (73+71+72=216).
Sophomore Steve Ziegler earned yet another top-25 finish and had two-under-par performance on the back nine of his final round to finish strong. Ziegler tied for 22nd just one stroke behind Kemmer. Sophomore Sihwan Kim and freshman David Chung finished in ties for 35th (76+74+73=223) and 45th (79+75+71=225), respectively, improving their scores with each day of the tournament.

CHICAGO - Fifth-ranked Stanford remained in a tie for fifth place after today's second round of the Fighting Illini Invitational at Olympia Fields Country Club in Chicago. The Cardinal was unable to match its 10-over-par score from yesterday and shot a 13-over-par 293 on the par-70 north course to bring its total to a 23-over-par 583 with one round left to play.
No. 12 Arizona State and Penn State join Stanford at fifth, while No. 24 Texas, which the Cardinal was tied with yesterday, moved up one slot on the leaderboard with a score of 21-over-par 581. Second-ranked Oklahoma State sliced 10 strokes off of yesterday's score to assume the top position on the board with a 12-over-par 572. Host Illinois follows one stroke behind the Cowboys in second place, while No. 20 Indiana sits in third with a 20-over-par 580.
Individually, junior Joseph Bramlett dropped out of the lead and into a four-way tie for seventh place. Bramlett shot four-over today to bring his total score to a two-over-par 142, four strokes behind Penn State's Kevin Foley, who is currently has sole possession of the lead.
Senior Dodge Kemmer sank four birdies and jumped up six places an into a tie for 15th place after improving upon yesterday's round by three strokes (73+71=144), while sophomore Steve Ziegler dropped from a tie for 21st to a tie for 28th (73+74=147). Sophomore Sihwan Kim improved his game by two strokes, but still sits in the middle of the pack in a tie for 42nd (76+74=150).
Stanford will again have the first tee time of 8 a.m. in tomorrow's third and final round. The Cardinal is paired with Oklahoma State and Indiana and will begin on the first hole. CHICAGO - Fifth-ranked Stanford finished today's first round of the Fighting Illini Invitational in a tie for fifth with No. 24 Texas on the par-70, 7,157-yard north course of Olympia Fields Country Club in Chicago. The Cardinal shot a ten-over-par 290 and is just two stokes behind No. 20 Indiana, Illinois, and Penn State, which all share the top spot on the leaderboard, and one stroke behind fourth-place Vanderbilt.
Individually, junior Joseph Bramlett is wasting no time in resuming his place amongst college golf's elite after an injury forced him to miss most of last season. Bramlett is tied with Indiana's Alex Martin for the lead after firing a two-under-par 68, and knocking in five birdies.
Senior Dodge Kemmer and sophomore Steve Ziegler turned in the second best performances for Stanford on the day, as each shot a three-over-par 73, good enough for a share of 21st place with 10 other golfers. Sophomore Sihwan Kim, and All-American last season, struggled a bit through the round, scoring a six-over-par 76 to put him in a tie for 49th place.
The Cardinal will begin the second round tomorrow at 8 a.m., when freshman David Chung is set to swing the first drive for Stanford. The Cardinal is paired with No. 24 Texas and Vanderbilt for the day.
