Stanford Closes Out Tough Road Trip With 2-1 Overtime Loss

STANFORD, Calif.- Stanford suffered its second straight overtime defeat on Sunday, falling to Longwood 2-1 in a neutral site contest played at Davidson, N.C.

Stanford falls to 2-7 overall and 1-2 in NorPac play while Longwood improves to 5-4 and 3-1 in conference action.

The Lancers put home the game winner four minutes into the first overtime period to gain the victory.

Xanthe Travlos scored her second goal of the year in the 46th minute to tie the match at 1-1. Travlos' goal came off assists from Camille Gandhi and Hillary Braun.

Gandhi led the Cardinal with four shot attempts while Travlos added two.

Longwood held an 11-9 edge in shots while Stanford owned a 5-4 advantage in penalty corners.

Stanford, which was concluding its second three-game, five-day road trip of the year, next hosts Pacific on Saturday, Sept. 27.
